I Need Your Help

Source: Pinterest

This funny thing happens to me every so often. I get the crazy urge to go somewhere. I would travel every few months if I could…but I can’t.

So, I’m taking this poster’s advice. I am going to read something. A story that takes place somewhere interesting. It doesn’t have to be exotic.
I’m going to “go” somewhere via a novel. But which one??? That is where you come in. What are some of your favorite books? Leave your recommendations in the comments!
Thanks for my book vacation suggestions!

  1. I wouldn't call it a favorite, but it was a good historical fiction that took me to Prague before Martin Luther. It is called The Silver Sword by Angela Hunt

  2. Oh! That sounds super interesting. Thanks so much. I've always wanted to to Prauge!

  3. Kisses from Katie is a non-fiction book about a twenty-something who followed the Lord's call to Uganda and adopted 14 girls before she was 22. I highly recommend it if you haven't read it yet! As far as fiction, Hadassah by Tommy Tenney is his take on the story of Esther and is one of my favorites.

  4. Ha I went there and didn't even figure out how to spell it correctly 😉

  5. I heard her interviewed at Catalyst Conference this year. I bet her book is incredible! The other sounds good too. Thanks so much!

  6. I love to read the "Nr. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" series by Alexander McCall Smith. After having visited Uganda, I found it to be so authentic about life in Africa as well as very entertaining.

  7. A few more recommendations:1. Non-fiction: "Lenin's Private Wars" – about how Lenin kicked out the intelligentsia after the Revolution and what happened to the Russian Diaspora2. Biography: "Child of the Jungle" by Sabine Kuegler – German third culture kid who grows up in Papua New Guinea. Bet you can relate to her story.3. Fiction: "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan I could seriously write a list a mile long of good books, but I'll stop here.: )

  8. Have you read the Mark of the Lion trilogy by Francine Rivers? It'll suck you in!

  12. I havne't. But, I like being sucked into books, so I'll put that on my list!

  13. Non-fiction thinkers (not for faint of heart: 1. 7 by Jen Hatmaker….take you into her world.2. A Grace Disguised by Gerald Sittzer…about grief and grace (I needed to escape my grief by reading someone else'sFiction1. How High The Moon by Sandra King. Just pure fun and insight from a young girl. So these won't take you to exotic places, but they are good books.

  14. The Chronicles of Narnia… because everyone wants to go to Narnia.Safely Home [about the underground church in China]Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea [about real lives in North Korea. SO. GOOD.]

  15. They sound like great books. Thanks for the recommendation!

  16. You are right. Who wouldn't want to go to Narnia? Those other two sound like doozies. I'll have to give them a look. Thanks!
